Student MatineeOpera Lyra Ottawa, currently in its 25th season, is the city's only professional opera production company. Through its "Young People" outreach programs it offers the opportunity for students to experience fully staged opera accompanied by an orchestra.

For Grades 6-12 Sung in German with English and French SurtitlesThis sponsored performance includes a Pre-Opera Presentation offering background information about the opera. Opera Lyra will provide teachers with an education kit with a comprehensive Study Guide and resources to help prepare students for this experience. The Magic Flute is one of Mozart’s most beloved operas. The spectacular set and costumes were designed by celebrated visual artist David Hockney for La Scala and come to us from the San Francisco Opera.
