Opera Lyra School Programs
Opera Lyra believes that performing arts education is vital to its community, offering a variety of programs to introduce children and youths to the power and beauty of opera. These programs, which include student-only performances and productions complete with teacher resources, help to foster an appreciation for the art form and lasting memories for thousands of young people in the National Capital Region each year. School programs include the Opera Matinee for Young People and the Dress Rehearsals for Students, which are both targeted for older children. In addition to these two programs, the OLO Opera Studio presents an opera for young people for school children. The opera is performed in the Fourth Stage at the NAC and is toured to schools. These are targeted for a younger audience and are shorter in duration from the mainstage productions.
